Travel and Leisure Group Celebrates 20 years of Successful ...

Travel & Leisure GroupSUDBURY, ENGLAND (June 14, 2012) ? Congratulations are in order this week as Travel & Leisure group celebrate their 20th Birthday, making them the longest-running timeshare resales company in Europe. The Sudbury-based timeshare reseller has been trading since 1992 and has succeeded where many companies have failed; working through the turbulent economic conditions and contending with the negative press which is often associated with timeshare resales.

Over the 20 years since Travel & Leisure?s birth the company has gone from strength-to-strength, expanding from its home in the East of England to encompass six different international offices in Portugal, Russia, Norway, Taiwan, Romania and the Baltic Regions. In addition to these international offices, Travel & Leisure also has French, German, Italian and Spanish speaking timeshare specialists to handle the growing number of enquiries from Europe and the rest of the world.

Established in the early 90s by Maria Mills-Farinas and business partner John Hepplewhite, Travel & Leisure was destined to become a thoroughly international organisation through a combination of Mrs Mills-Farinas? language skills and legal knowledge and Mr Hepplewhite?s influence and global business network.

?I?d always felt there was a need for a reliable, independent international resale brokerage? Mrs Mills remembers, ?offering buyers and sellers from all over the world secure transactions and peace of mind, knowing their money and ownership documents are safe in solicitors? hands. We wanted to build a truly international company, with professional multi-lingual staff, that people could trust to take care of their resale needs.?

Travel & Leisure are determined to continue to build the reputation and sustained customer-focus attitudes towards business, which has underpinned the last two decades of trading. ?We always look for ways to improve and expand our business. As you know, the resale market isn?t an easy one, and with timeshare things can get stale. We have a no-pressure resale service and that?s important. Buyers have time to think about it in the comfort of their own home, there?s no cold calling or invitations to buy so they never feel under pressure. They can choose what suits them and they are in control.?

Recognition by RDO (formerly the OTE), TATOC, ARDA, ATHOC the UK Timeshare Council and the British Chamber of Commerce coupled with 20 years of business are all badges Travel & Leisure are very proud of.

In 2011 Travel & Leisure group announced sales over just under ?1.5 million showing a constant effort to improve their services and maintain the high standards which have been set over the last two decades. Today Travel & Leisure Group stands strong, and is upgrading their computer systems in order to guarantee continued growth and provide the best service to their customers in the many years to come.

SEO Elite Software ? Search Engine Optimization ? Link Popularity

SEO Elite Software - Search Engine Optimization - Link Popularity - Web Promotion - Link Exchange Search ToolClick Image To Visit SiteIntroducing: The secret tool that tens of thousands of the top ranked Google sites have been quietly using for years?

"Who Else Wants To Finally Get A #1 Google Ranking In As Little As 7 Days? And Drive A Minimum Of 789 Unique Visitors To Your Websites Per Day?" Introducing the ONLY search engine optimization software product that has been 100% PROVEN to dramatically increase your rankings in Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Above is a real-life screenshot of 1 of my many websites. The site above gets, on average, 12,783 visitors PER DAY!

My name is Brad Callen. I?ve been marketing online since the early 2000s and have been fortunate enough to have generated millions of dollars solely from the internet.

I got my start online in the weight loss niche, marketing an eBook I?d written that is no longer on the market. It was an eBook called "Ultimate Weight Loss Revealed".

Here?s a picture of my very first website and product. Not too bad for having no idea what I was doing, eh? :-)

While marketing to that industry, my website achieved #1 and #2 Google rankings for every single major keyword related to the weight loss niche!

That?s pretty much unheard of to rank #1 or #2 for every single major keyword in a niche, but I did it all from my 2 bedroom apartment, on a dial-up internet connection!

At the time, My dinky little website selling my eBook was beating out fortune 500 companies like Jenny Craig and LA Weight Loss, who had million dollar marketing and advertising budgets. I was spending exactly $0.00 and I was doing this from my 2 bedroom apartment, on a dial up modem!

I?ve since moved out of the weight loss industry completely and into something I have much more passion for? the software/marketing industry. I?ve also taken my new websites to the top for their chosen keywords. Also, very competitive keywords, in that the owners of the sites competing for these keywords know "search engine optimization" extremely well.

These are just 2 of my many websites. I won?t bore you with ranking screenshots any longer. Afterall, when it all comes down to it, we?re not looking for #1 search engine rankings, we?re looking for an increase in the amount of money our business generates, right?

To give you an idea of what sort of money multiple #1 Google rankings can give you, take a look at the earnings screenshots below?

With the help of top Google, Yahoo, and MSN rankings, I?ve been able to pull in bi-weekly pay checks like the one below?

Hormones, Elvis, and human emotion

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

The velvety voice of Elvis Presley still makes hearts flutter?and in a new study with people who have the rare genetic disorder Williams syndrome, one of the King's classics is among a group of songs that helped to cast light on part of the essence of being human: the mystery of emotion and human interaction.

In a study led by Julie R. Korenberg, Ph.D., M.D., University of Utah/USTAR professor, Circuits of the Brain and pediatrics, people with and without Williams syndrome (WS) listened to music in a trial to gauge emotional response through the release of oxytocin and arginine vasopressin (AVP), two hormones associated with emotion. The study, published June 12, 2012, in PLoS ONE, increases our understanding of human emotional and behavioral systems and may expedite the treatment of devastating illnesses such as WS, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and possibly even autism, according to Korenberg, senior author on the study and one of the world's leading experts in genetics, brain, and behavior of WS.

"Our results could be very important for guiding the treatment of these disorders," Korenberg says. "It could have enormous implications for personal the use of drugs to help people."

The study also is the first to reveal new genes that control emotional responses and to show that AVP is involved in the response to music.

Williams syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by the deletion of 25 to 28 genes on one copy of chromosome 7. Those with the disorder look at the world through a unique lens. They may view everyone as their friend, to the point of running up to total strangers and striking up conversations as though they are old acquaintances. They have an affinity for music. But they also experience heightened anxiety, have an average IQ of 60, experience severe spatial-visual problems, and suffer from cardiovascular and other health issues. Despite their desire to befriend people, they have difficulty creating and maintaining social relationships, something that is not at all understood but can afflict many people without WS.

Korenberg and colleagues from the U of U, University of Illinois, Chicago, and the Salk Institute, La Jolla, Calif., conducted a trial with 21 participants, 13 who have WS and a control group of eight people without the disorder. The participants were evaluated at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Because music is a known strong emotional stimulus, the researchers asked participants to listen to music.

Before the music was played, the participants' blood was drawn to determine a baseline level for oxytocin, and those with WS had three times as much of the hormone as those without the syndrome. Blood also was drawn at regular intervals while the music played and was analyzed afterward to check for real-time, rapid changes in the levels of oxytocin and AVP. Other studies have examined how oxytocin affects emotion when artificially introduced into people, such as through nasal sprays, but this is the one of the first significant studies to measure naturally occurring changes in oxytocin levels in rapid, real time as people undergo an emotional response.

Researchers asked the first participant to listen to the 1950s Elvis classic, "Love Me Tender." The woman showed no outward response to the song, which can be typical not only of people with WS but particularly of people without the disorder whose faces may be impassive but jump up at the end of an exciting piece, Korenberg points out. But, to elicit a greater response from the remaining test participants, the researchers invited them to bring their favorite music to listen to?and many of them chose heavy metal. Again, there was little outward response to the music.

But when the blood samples were analyzed, the researchers were happily surprised. The analyses showed that the oxytocin levels, and to a lesser degree AVP, had not only increased but begun to bounce among WS participants while among those without WS, both the oxytocin and AVP levels remained largely unchanged as they listened to music. Interestingly, the oxytocin level in the woman who'd listened to "Love Me Tender" skyrocketed compared to the levels of participants who listened to different music.

Korenberg believes the blood analyses strongly indicate that oxytocin and AVP are not regulated correctly in people with WS, and that the behavioral characteristics unique to people with WS are related to this problem.

"This shows that oxytocin quite likely is very involved in emotional response," Korenberg says.

To ensure accuracy of results, those taking the test also were asked to place their hands in 60-degree Fahrenheit water to test for negative stress, and the same results were produced as when they listened to music. Those with WS experienced an increase in oxytocin and AVP, while those without the syndrome did not.

Listening to Elvis was part of a larger study, published in the June 12, 2012 issue of PLoS One, that shows for the first time that oxytocin and another hormone associated with emotion, arginine vasopressin (AVP), are poorly regulated in people with WS and that atypical levels of oxytocin are linked to both the desire to seek social interaction and decreased ability to process social clues.

WS is ideal for studying how genes influence social behavior and emotion, according to Korenberg. Unlike other social disorders, the cause of Williams syndrome is known, which is critical for pinpointing areas of the brain and genes related to the disorder. It also could be extremely important in finding drug targets for WS.

In addition to listening to music, study participants already had taken three standard social behavior tests that evaluate willingness to approach and speak to strangers, emotional states, and various areas of adaptive and problem behavior. Those test results suggest that increased levels of oxytocin are linked to both increased desire to seek social interaction and decreased ability to process social cues, a double-edged message that may be very useful at times, for example, during courtship, but damaging at others, as in Williams syndrome.

"The association between abnormal levels of oxytocin and AVP and altered social behaviors found in people with Williams Syndrome points to surprising, entirely unsuspected deleted genes involved in regulation of these hormones and human sociability," Korenberg said. "It also suggests that the simple characterization of oxytocin as 'the love hormone' may be an overreach. The data paint a far more complicated picture."

However, the picture is very hopeful, and the study provides a key breakthrough that lights the way to making rapid progress in treating WS, and perhaps Autism and anxiety through regulation of these key players in human brain and emotion, oxytocin and vasopressin. It is important that work in the very near future may allow us to know how to adjust the dial on the OT and AVP system and its effects in different brain regions in ways that relieve suffering and improve the lives of those with the disorder, according to Korenberg.

In particular, the study results indicate that the missing genes affect the release of oxytocin and AVP through the hypothalmus and the pituitary gland. About the size of a pearl, the hypothalamus is located just above the brain stem and produces hormones that control body temperature, hunger, mood, sex drive, sleep, hunger and thirst, and the release of hormones from many glands, including the pituitary. The pituitary gland, about the size of a pea, controls many other glands responsible for hormone secretion. The results of this study points to new clues as to what makes us and may prevent us from being just a bit more human.

With Obamacare Still In Play, GoHealth Lands $50M For Health Insurance Comparison Shopping

Screen shot 2012-06-13 at 1.54.32 AMThis month, the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare), deciding whether or not adults in the U.S. will be required to purchase healthcare. If the Court rules in favor, millions of Americans will soon be in the market for health insurance. This would be a boon for companies like GoHealth, the Chicago-based tech company behind GoHealthInsurance.com, an online portal that allows consumers to comparison shop for health coverage. That's part of the reason that GoHealth is taking on a $50 million equity investment from middle market investment firm, Norwest Equity Partners. In the event the individual mandate does pass, GoHealth wants to be ready for a potentially huge flock of irritated healthcare shoppers.

Expanding the Pie ? Integrative versus ... - Program on Negotiation

Expanding the Pie - Integrative versus Distributive Bargaining

Imagine that you are buying a used car from its original owner. Of course, you want to get the best deal you can for your money, while your counterpart wants to maximize the value of his asset. After haggling with one another, each side finally arrives at a price point acceptable to both parties.

The above scenario is common in many transactional negotiations: you play your cards close and share as little information as needed to achieve the end goal.

Michael Wheeler, Harvard Business School and Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School faculty member, asks us to imagine a different scenario, one in which both parties reveal their interests at the onset of a negotiation.

A recent article by Katie Wheeler for Harvard Business School, ?The Art of Haggling,? describes the difference between distributive bargaining and integrative bargaining. Getting to YES, the seminal work from Harvard Law School professor and Program on Negotiation founder Roger Fisher. Co-authored with Harvard Negotiation Project Senior Fellow and Program on Negotiation cofounder William Ury, Getting to YES advocates for integrative bargaining. In integrative bargaining, each side seeks to create an agreement beneficial to both parties.

The integrative approach is what is taught in most professional schools. Professor Wheeler emphasizes that situations that initially look like win-lose negotiations can often be turned into opportunities for mutual gain and value creation.

Of course, the integrative approach has its limits, and Wheeler notes that the art of negotiation lies in simultaneously creating and claiming value or ?riding two different horses at the same time.?

Negotiators are often cautious about revealing too much information but integrative bargaining explicitly relies upon revealing preferences and interests. As Professor Wheeler cautions, ?Sometimes getting 70 percent of the small pie might be better than getting 50 percent of a marginally larger one.? The emphasis on relationship building marks integrative bargaining?s approach as being oriented toward a long-term vision for future negotiations with your counterpart.

Is Payroll Outsourcing Suitable for Your Business? ? 5 important ...

The payroll function is really a task every business performs, whether it be a small or a mid-sized company. Smaller businesses that conserve a solid, predictable revenue stream, may manage their books internally with assistance from an independent accountant. The accountant is devoted to processing payroll for a small group of staff members, but is that where your accountant?s time is best spent? There are almost certainly other functions that need accounting level expertise, especially as the company grows.

When you acquire new clients and increase business, only one independent accountant might not be enough to manage your accounting and book keeping functions, and you?ll need to hire additional staff to handle the improved workload.

Outsourcing your payroll function can alleviate some of this increased workload while giving the benefits listed below:
Cost Benefits: A separate in-house payroll department can be quite expensive to a small company, since it requires skilled, experienced, manpower to process the payroll, maintain accurate records for a number of withholdings, and manage timely cash disbursements. By outsourcing the payroll function, you get rid of the should employ a permanent employee in order to meet these duties, while still having access to the expertise required.

Reliability: Payroll errors are taken very seriously by authorities. No matter previous, impressive financial documentation, payroll errors can escalate into significant issues, creating long lasting trouble for your organization. Whenever you outsource your payroll function, this responsibility shifts to the vendor to make certain accurate, error free payroll processing.

Optimized Manpower: By outsourcing the payroll function, your in-house employees are liberal to give attention to other functions for critical to your customer relationships and business development. You can even save on salaries that could are already distributed to work with a permanent employee with payroll expertise or reallocate funds that might have been completely earmarked with an accountant to carry out these tasks with other more meaningful accounting functions.

Timely Payroll: An in-house payroll department is additionally responsible for tracking staff changes and new employee hires, in addition to the associated paperwork. Practicing these tasks diminishes in-house staff productivity because of significant administrative follow-up. However, outsourcing the payroll function assigns these duties to the vendor. A payroll provider takes into consideration staff changes as well as other alterations in withholdings as a result, factoring these into planning to ensure that payroll processing occurs on-time.

Increased Security: When payroll is managed in-house, entrepreneurs must closely monitor the processing or have total confidence and assurance that the employee performing this function is trustworthy and not capable of fraud. By outsourcing the payroll, this burden is positioned around the payroll processing provider. Being a company owner, it will save you time and savings otherwise allocated to monitoring employees in charge of this function.

Next month, The Dark Knight Rises.? Until then, we?ll have to settle for a real-life reunion of football?s Batman and Robin.

Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, both of whom currently are waiting for a bat signal to shine in one of the various NFL cities, worked out recently in South Beach.? After they did their thing, Owens provided a two-minute ?exclusive? interview to OCNN.

(Chad was nowhere to be seen or heard.? Which means he?s smart enough to realize that hitching his wagon once again to T.O. means that Chad?s wagon will end up careening off a cliff.)

Some of Owens? monologue couldn?t understood, due to the fact that hurricane-force winds were blowing directly into the microphone.? Here?s what we were able to discern.

?Everybody?s hatin? right now,? Owens said.? ?It?s all good.? At the end of the day, I?m gonna be what I be.? You know what I mean?? I?m gonna be who I be.? I may be swept off right now, but, hey, myself, personally, I got all the faith in God.? Everything happens for a reason.? Everybody that doubts me, everybody that thinks this and that.? Hey, think what you want to think.? I know the truth.? There?s always three sides to a story.? Their side, my side, and it?s always true.

?I?m gonna still keep working. . . .? Eventually, I?m coming back. . . .? Everybody?s talking about what happened five, seven years ago.? It is what it is.? See my heart, not my past.?

For a guy who held a workout last October that no team attended, and in whom no team has shown a sliver of interest despite the fact that every team currently has 90 roster spots, it would be wise to project slightly more (or, you know, any) humility if he truly hopes to return to the NFL.

At one point, Owens chalks up his past locker-room issues to being ?young, immature.?? Based on his latest interview, the only real difference is that he?s no longer young.

Sports digest: Lawsuit is filed against new San Francisco 49ers cornerback Perrish Cox in connection with alleged sexual assault

A woman who accused former Denver cornerback Perrish Cox of sexual assault filed a lawsuit Sunday seeking unspecified damages against Cox and current Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas.

A Denver jury in March acquitted Cox of all charges, and Cox then signed a two-year contract with the 49ers. Civil suits, though, have a lower threshold of proof than criminal proceedings.

The woman became pregnant during a night of partying in 2010. Her lawyer, Craig Silverman, says in the suit that the woman was drugged at a nightclub, then sexually assaulted at Cox's apartment. Thomas was at the apartment that night.

  • Brian Banks accepted coach Pete Carroll's offer and will get a formal tryout with Seattle at this week's minicamp. Banks, 26, was a star high school linebacker who was recently exonerated in a rape case in which he was falsely accused. He served more than five years in prison, then spent five years on parole, wearing an ankle bracelet. Banks had a private workout in Seattle on Thursday. The San Francisco Chronicle reported last week the 49ers expressed interest in Banks, who had orally committed to USC and Carroll while at Long Beach Poly.

'Jersey Shore' cast member Deena arrested in NJ

(AP) ? A "Jersey Shore" cast member has been arrested in the New Jersey town where the MTV show is based.

Seaside Heights Police Chief Tommy Boyd tells WNBC TV in New York that Deena Cortese was arrested Sunday afternoon on a disorderly conduct charge. Boyd says a borough officer saw Cortese "a little intoxicated" and standing in the middle of a street, slapping cars that were driving by.

Boyd says Cortese was taken to police headquarters and later released on a summons.

MTV publicists did not immediately respond to requests for a comment on Sunday night, and a number for Cortese could not be located.

The popular reality show just recently started shooting its new season in the Ocean County community.

Cost to lunch with Buffett: $3.5 million

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) ? The cost to dine with investor Warren Buffett has apparently spiked in value, with one deep-pocketed bidder forking over nearly $3.5 million during a charity auction.

The annual auction for a private lunch with the Nebraska billionaire closed following a flurry of activity in the final hours Friday night. In the end, the highest bid was a record-breaking $3,456,789.

The auction benefits the Glide Foundation, which helps the homeless in San Francisco. Buffett has raised more than $11.5 million for the group in 13 past auctions. The event provides a significant portion of Glide's roughly $17 million annual budget that pays for social services to the poor and homeless.

"We just had a most amazing, shocking experience occur in our great city," Glide's founder, the Rev. Cecil Williams, said in a statement Friday night. "We are shouting, dancing, rejoicing and celebrating."

The organization said Friday's winner bidder wished to remain anonymous. Williams said 10 people actively engaged in bidding.

Buffett became one of the world's richest men while building Berkshire Hathaway into a conglomerate. But he says most of the questions he gets at the lunches aren't about investing.

As in past auctions, the bids didn't reach astronomical levels until close to the end. Within the final hour of the auction's 9:30 p.m. CDT closing, bids jumped from $1 million to the final $3.46 million.

Buffett has supported the San Francisco organization ever since his late first wife, Susan, introduced him to Williams. Buffett says Williams is a key reason why Glide has been able to help so many people after the world had given up on them.

"He's changed thousands of lives that would not have been changed otherwise," Buffett said before the bidding closed.

The previous four winning bids have all exceeded $2 million with records set every year. Last year's winner, hedge fund manager Ted Weschler, paid $2,626,411.

In fact, Weschler paid nearly $5.3 million to win both the 2010 and 2011 auctions, and he wound up getting hired by Buffett last year to help manage Berkshire's investment portfolio. Buffett says he doesn't expect to find another new hire through the auction.

Buffett's business brilliance and remarkable record of investment success as Berkshire's chairman and chief executive is a big part of the draw for bidders, though he won't talk about potential investments.

And Buffett has also made a mark on the world of philanthropy, so past winners of the lunch have also wanted to discuss giving. Buffett has slowly given away his fortune since 2006, and he plans to eventually divide most of his shares of Berkshire stock between five charitable foundations. The largest chunk will go to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Buffett and Gates have also been encouraging other wealthy people to give away at least half of their fortunes. Nearly 80 of the nation's wealthiest families have signed the pledge.

The Glide auction's winners traditionally dine with Buffett at New York's Smith and Wollensky steak house. The restaurant donates at least $10,000 to Glide each year to host the auction lunch.

Past winners of the auction have said they believe the time with Buffett was well worth the price they paid in the auction. The lunches often continue for several hours as Buffett answers their questions.

Buffett says many of the questions he gets at the lunches are about nonbusiness subjects such as family and philanthropy.

Buffett's company owns roughly 80 subsidiaries including insurance, furniture, clothing, jewelry and candy companies, restaurants and natural gas and corporate jet firms, and has major investments in such companies as Coca-Cola Co. and Wells Fargo & Co.
