LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Construction crews make a mistake leading to another cut land line in the area, knocking out phones for hundreds of Lafayette residents.
Frontier Communications General Manager Dave Sorg tells News 18 that Wednesday morning, crews working on Concord Road construction accidentally cut a copper land line just north of Brady Lane on Concord.
This is the second cable cut by construction crews in Lafayette in less than three weeks.
Constructions crews accidently cut the land line while installing storm sewer pipes along Concord Road.
Sorg says the copper land line provides both phone and internet service.
Crider & Crider Job Superintendent Darrell Perry says the fiber optic cable was marked but the copper cable wasn't.
"We got a fiber optic in the back that we hand pot-holed for it and hunted for," Perry said. "As we come through there was three old phone wires, four old phone wires all together and there was a 900 pair phone wire that jumped up in the way. It wasn't really located and we got it."
Sorg says roughly 250 residents and businesses around the area of Concord and Brady Lane may be without service until Thursday.
Sorg assured us that Frontier crews are already trying to work on the cut line, and are working to restore service as soon as possible.
We?ll bring you updates as soon as we get them.
